Villeneuve Airport (VA) is the Edmonton region’s primary general aviation airport and is owned and operated by Edmonton International Airport (EIA). A recent economic impact study identified that VA contributes a total economic output of nearly $62 million with more than 230 full-time equivalent employees. VA also hosts the Edmonton Airshow which attracts up to 40,000 people annually.
In late 2019 EIA released the updated 2019 – 2023 Strategic Plan. The plan notes opportunities to develop and attract flight training services, a full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO), expanded Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services, small aircraft manufacturing, regional agricultural services and innovation. Additional investment opportunities exist in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) and the aerospace, defence and security industries.
